Saurav Ganguly Retirement Announcement

While reading these lines from Saurav “I was tired of being humiliated again and again. I don’t want to play cricket at the mercy of others” I believe its fair decision to quit all forms of cricket but doesn’t is puts an end on speculation of his inclusion in Indian Team for Australia Series. Doesn’t it directly indicates our respectable selection committee has something else also in their mind when they are selecting so called best Indian team instead of form, runs, statistics and so on…

Once again our DADA is in news and this time is for the breaking news of retirement announcement. I have been full supporter of Saurav’s style of play (glorious timing) and respected him for his leadership skills for upbringing Indian Team where it is today. Emotional attachment started especially after emotional ads campaign which appeared on television that he will be back…

But still wondering is it because Ganguly is not capable of delivering for India or there are hidden truth behind his retirement at least my mind start wobbling while hearing news on almost all the news channel about his inclusion in current Indian team playing against Australia is to give him a respectable exit from Indian Cricket but my first impression was these news channel makes news of almost everything but two days later almost all the news channel and papers were bombarded with his retirement announcement...

At least Speaker Somnath Chatterjee didn’t agree that “there is any cricketing reason behind Ganguly’s retirement” I too felt lately Ganguly hasn’t been shown due respect and given adequate opportunities to prove his worthiness where as some so called young players are given repetitive chances even if they failed to perform.

It’s true that we need to plan for future and look for young breed but what about immense experience one has credited to his name in his career. How many batsman we have in Indian Team who scored more than 17000 in both Test and One Day having even of more than 41 Average and more than 140 wickets to add to it more than 110 strike rate in the latest evolution of T20.

This seems to be straight from Ganguly’s heart “Three are players who haven’t scored for last three series. There are some who have changes their hairstyle more than they score for India”.

Have you heard about TP Singh. Yes he is the man recommended by Greg Chappell for Ganguly but it dint end here Great Chappell even dropped him from playing in Irani Tropy I still don’t have any news about his replacement there L.

While I leave you with this mystery why Ganguly there may be some more news about Sachin, Dravid or Kumble till I publish this post. Keep guessing and enjoy upcoming Australia series…

IPL 2008: McCullum's lead Kolkata Knight Riders to win

So at last IPL 2008 is on it full flow and McCullum's 158 made Kolkata Knight to a comfortable win. I never thought Bangalore Royal Challengers will succumbed down to 82 for 10 but this is what happened thanks to experience and youth mix of Kolkata Knight Rider's performance which did it all . Anyways 222 was never a score to be chased but it was sad to see Rahul got out on the first ball of Ishant Sharma. This guy looks great and good prospect for Indian Team. It cannot end without talking about King Khan (Saharukh) it was nice to see dancing him in the balcony and beyond the railing. He is such a public figure hope he is not in loss as he is mentioning in the interviews that all of them investing in IPL will be in loss first year...

Sehwag Tactics Good??

So its two days over and India ended with 82 for 2 with a smashing 52 from Sehwag. Anyways you love watching Sehwag as long as he is going good with his smashing drives but not sure if you feel he is good for test. I personally feel that he should play Test like a Test with more responsibility and leave one day form at least for 5 Days. I will expect a 200 in 300 balls instead of 80-90 in 100 and get out. Anyways tomorrow is going to be a good day to watch this test but not sure Friday works for me as its working day. As always your comments are welcome to discuss Sehwag tactics is good or bad... Go India Go!!!

ICL vs IPL

Given a lot of thought I think that IPL is going to be better considering access to all the cricket grounds, facilities, big names in the teams and loads of money flowing in. Also BCCI decision to not allow players in ICL to the main stream cricket creates a bit of dilemma to the young and upcoming players as they need to decide they need good contract amount given by IPL or they need stardom (advertisement ofcourse).
But we need to congratulate ICL as without their existense BCCI have never taken this initiative in such a grand manner.
Whoever wins its going to be lot of fun for cricket fans all over the world and to be precise I like watching ICL and hope IPL also is going to be the same if not better.
